Your Guide To Essential Oils For Everyday Living

Essential oils are a volatile liquid derived naturally from plants. Many benefits come from essential oils not just at a therapeutic level, but also on an emotional level.

Synthetic oils that have been chemically created, mostly from petroleum, do not have the same healing power. Therefore, you should choose your oils wisely if you are putting them on your body or even inhaling the smell, as an artificial fragrance can lead to hormone disruption, reproductive problems and even cancer.

Essential oils can be extracted from a number of plant components including the leaves, stems, roots, seeds, berries, bark or flowers of the plant.

Essential oils are not cheap to buy as it takes a lot of plant material to make even an ounce of the oil. In fact, it can take as much as 200 pounds of plant material to make just one ounce of essential oil. If you see an essential oil that seems unusually low priced, be very wary.

The most popular way to use the essential oils on a daily basis is through inhalation.  When you breathe in their aroma, the molecules enter your lungs and are carried into your bloodstream. They then travel to the brain, including the limbic system, and parts that control emotions, appetite, heart,  respiratory rate and hormone activity levels.

Essential oils can also be used topically either through massaging diluted oils with a carrier oil, which is then absorbed through the skin and enters the bloodstream.

Essential oils can be used on all hair types. They can prevent dandruff and can promote hair growth when used topically. They also have a place in your medicine cabinet for colds, flu and other annoyances.

You can also add essential oils to a bath which can help you unwind, or in a foot soak to sooth sore feet.

Essential oils can provide many benefits to your skin through skin care products. They can assist with dry, oily, acne-prone, sensitive, eczema-prone, aging and itchy skins. Make sure the moisturiser or skin product is free of synthetic ingredients as they can depress the immune system.

Essential oils are multi-dimensional and filled with homeostatic intelligence to restore the body to a state of healthy balance, detoxifying the body.

Synthetic chemically or genetically engineered oils can inhibit natural function, can have many adverse interactions, can disrupt intercellular communication, can confuse cellular memory (DNA), can depress the immune system and can create emotional imbalance. These can all cause harmful side effects that can lead towards chronic disease.
